Become a Clinical Sleep Educator!

Andrea Patterson Call For Applications
BRPT is currently accepting applications for the third annual Andrea Patterson Memorial Scholarship Program.  The Scholarship Program, named in honor of an early and highly regarded leader in the field of sleep technology, awards a $2,500 tuition grant each year to a promising student of polysomnography.  

Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in or accepted by a CAAHEP-accredited program in PSG, a CoARC-accredited program with a PSG add-on or an accredited NDT program with a PSG add-on.  The scholarship application, a full description of eligibility requirements and other program details are available at  Applications must be completed and returned to the BRPT no later than close of business November 1. The Andrea Patterson Memorial Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipient and the winner will be announced in January 2013.

News From Raleigh, NC:  ACHC Sleep Program Approved for Polysomnography and Sleep Studies
The Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. recently received notice from Noridian Administrative Services, LLC and National Government Services, Inc. approving the addition of ACHC accreditation in their local coverage determination (LCD) for Polysomnography and Sleep Studies. The LCD requires each sleep laboratory or sleep testing facility in the Carrier’s jurisdiction to have a physician director who meets certain qualifications including employment by an accredited sleep lab or sleep testing facility, which now is revised to include ACHC.
Noridian Administrative Services, LLC (NAS), Jurisdiction F (AL, AZ, ID, MT, ND, OR, SD, UT, WA, WY) has revised the LCD policy (L24350) to recognize ACHC as an approved accrediting body for sleep labs with an effective date of February 27, 2012 and now appears on the Medicare Coverage Database.

National Government Services, Inc., Jurisdiction 13 (NY, CT) and the state of Indiana has revised their LCD policy (L26428) to include ACHC with an effective date of July 1, 2012 and will be viewable in the Medicare Coverage Database on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
