Description
The Advanced Titration Certificate is a specialized assessment-based certificate designed for BRPT credential holders who are proficient in advanced titration techniques. This exam evaluates the knowledge and skills necessary to perform complex titration procedures, including, but not restricted to: the use of advanced titration modalities, pathophysiology and clinical presentation, nerve stimulators, oral appliances and knowledge of surgical solutions. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in managing and optimizing sleep therapy for patients requiring specialized support, ensuring high standards of clinical practice. Earning this certification signifies a high level of proficiency and dedication to advancing sleep health care.
Introduction
Based on extensive feedback from BRPT credential holders about the need for a specialty exam for advanced titration, the BRPT is pleased to announce our Advanced Titration Certificate Exam. Successful candidates will have received a passing score of 70% or higher, and will be awarded an assessment-based certificate in the form of a digital badge, as well as 10.00 CSTE which can be used towards the recertification of their RPSGT and/or CCSH credential.
Background
The BRPT’s Advanced Titration Certificate Task Force, chaired by BRPT Board member Jill West, RPSGT, CCSH, is comprised of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) familiar with the BRPT’s test development processes and relevant needs in the profession. A key first step was conducting a Job Task Analysis (JTA) to define the exam’s content blueprint. This involved gathering industry insights to assess the relevance and importance of advanced titration knowledge and skills.
Following this, the ATC Task Force meticulously reviewed references, structured the exam blueprint, and crafted a rigorous catalog of exam items. Each item underwent peer review, committee approval, and multiple validation steps to ensure accuracy and relevance. The result is an unparalleled exam that sets a new BRPT standard recognizing expertise in advanced titration techniques.
Eligibility
Active RPSGT and CCSH credential holders are eligible to sit for the BRPT’s Advanced Titration Certificate exam. Upon receiving a passing score, candidates will be awarded an assessment-based certificate in Advanced Titrations in the form of a printable certificate as well as a digital badge. Earners will also be issued 10.00 BRPT-CSTE credits which can be used towards the recertification of their RPSGT and/or CCSH credential.
About The Advanced Titration Certificate Exam
The exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions covering three domain areas:
- Domain 1: Advanced Knowledge
- Domain 2: Physiology and Clinical Presentation
- Domain 3: Evaluation and Treatment
The Advanced Titration Certificate exam blueprint can be found here. The online exam cost is $200.00 per attempt.
As long as a candidate has met the eligibility requirements, they may retake the Advanced Titration Certificate exam as many times as needed in order to receive a passing score to earn the digital badge and CSTE. If a candidate receives a non-passing score, they must reapply to be eligible to retake the exam.
Once a candidate begins the exam, a two-hour time limit starts. Failure to complete the exam within two hours will result in an automatic failure, the exam being timed out and clearing of any progress made, resulting in the candidate needing to reapply to take the exam again.
Steps for Applying for the Advanced Titration Certificate Exam
- Log into the BRPT Self-Service Portal
- Navigate to the “Resources” tile found on the bottom/right of your dashboard, and select the Advanced Titration Certificate Exam link. You will be asked to log into the Portal again, please proceed. If you are eligible to take the Advanced Titration Certificate Exam, you will be redirected to our Training Site for registration.
- Once you have been redirected to our Training Site, select “Catalog” found in the menu below your name on the top/right of your screen.
- Select the Advanced Titration Certificate Exam product.
- Follow the registration prompts on the next screen to pay the $200.00 exam fee to become registered/eligible to launch the exam.
Preparing For The Advanced Titration Certificate Exam
- Carefully study the exam blueprint to ensure familiarity with the domain areas and corresponding tasks.
- Review the recommended reference materials.
Assessment Based Certificates
This assessment-based certificate is valid for five years. Once five years has passed, the certificate as well as the digital badge will become invalid. Candidates may reapply/retake the exam to receive a new assessment-based certificate and digital badge once lapsed. Assessment-based certificate holders are not awarded an acronym or letters for use after their names, as this assessment-based certificate is not a healthcare credential and passing the exam does not achieve a designation. Continued use of the certificate beyond the five-year term is a violation of the BRPT Standards of Conduct and will be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.
