New CPSGT Candidates

Step 1: Read the Candidate Handbook

All CPSGT new candidates are expected to have thoroughly read the CPSGT Candidate Handbook. Candidates should be familiar with the requirements for our Eligibility Pathways, policies and procedures, and Standards of Conduct. Virtually all of your questions can be answered in the Candidate Handbook.

Step 2: Review the Eligibility Criteria Choose your Eligibility Pathway

After reading the CPSGT Candidate Handbook, visit our Eligibility Page to review the Eligibility Pathways. In order, to qualify for the exam you must meet the eligibility requirements of a listed Eligibility Pathway. Make sure you have the documentation required for your Eligibility Pathway.

Step 3: Complete the CPSGT Exam Application

Once you have gathered documentation of your eligibility, you need to complete the CPSGT Exam Application.  The information the BRPT is requesting is necessary for us to process the application you are submitting.  To learn more about our privacy policies, how we process your data, and your rights, please visit our Privacy Policy here.  Submitting an application using our online Self Service Portal should be done using a computer and not a mobile device – as some browsers on mobile devices are not fully optimized for our digital applications.


An Important Announcement:  The CPSGT Exam fee for both new and reapplying candidates will increase to $300.00 effective July 1st, 2023

Step 4: Check Your Email and Schedule Your Exam

Once approved to test, candidates will receive an exam authorization email to the address provided within 7-10 business days. Candidates will be instructed to contact Pearson VUE Testing Centers to schedule an exam date.

Please be advised: If your email server strictly quarantines messages from unknown sources as “spam”, we strongly recommend that you monitor both your inbox and your spam folder for the approval email.

Should you wish to mail in a paper application, you may download it here. Please be sure that it is filled out in original ink, and mail it as well as all required supporting documentation to us in an envelope that does not require you to bend or fold the application. Please note that if your application is incomplete for any reason, it will be rejected and returned to you along with a letter explaining our reasoning. In order for it to be approved, you will be required to resubmit it along with a $50.00 rejection fee.
