CPSGTs And The Importance Of Continuing Education

The sleep profession continues to be a vibrant and growing field with many new and exciting opportunities for sleep health professionals. For those new to sleep, earning the Certified Polysomnographic Technician (CPSGT) certification is an excellent first step on this career path.

The CPSGT certification is time-limited and certificate holders must earn the RPSGT credential within three years or lose the CPSGT designation.

A commitment to continuing education is a key component of CPSGT certification. CPSGTs must earn (and submit to the BRPT) a minimum of 10 sleep-related continuing education credits each year in which they hold the certificate. These CECs must be submitted to BRPT on an annual basis using the online certificant portal available on the BRPT website. It’s important to note that CPSGTs must obtain the required number of continuing education credits each year prior to the anniversary of earning their certificate.

If you’re looking for continuing education opportunities be sure to visit the BRPT’s Continuing Education Resources Page à https://www.brpt.org/recertify/continuing-education-resources/

for a list of pre-approved CE providers as well as other CE resources.

If 10 Continuing Education Credits aren’t earned and entered yearly, the credential will become suspended and there isn’t an option to reinstate. If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected] – we’re here to help!
